E-Class W211 Mercedes-Benz E-Class W211 Picture Thread

The Mercedes-Benz W211 is the third generation Mercedes-Benz E-Class made from 2001 to 2009 in sedan/saloon and station wagon/estate configurations – replacing the W210 E-Class models and superseded by the Mercedes-Benz W212 in 2009.
The W211 has aged extremely well. It still looks modern and elegant, and surprisingly, it looks a lot more compact than its real size suggests.

At the time I remember Mercedes went out of their way stylistically to hide the bulk of their vehicles, particularly the W220.

The E500 was naturally aspirated and hugely fuel inefficient. The guard, even heavier mus thave had single digit mpg.

Two months ago one of my rear air springs failed. bought third party repalcements in pair for £170 and had them changed on the driveway. Plug and play, no coding neccessary. Easy peasy.

I don't think the fuel economy was much of a concern for the rich guy who originally purchased it, because he probably had at his disposal an ML 320 CDI or a Discovery TD6 or the ubiquitous Toyota SW4 3.0 D4D.

And presumably the diesel SUV was armour plated as well.

Safeguarding your life is worth spending a bit more on fuel for :D

And I was meaning to ask you about your ownership experience, for quite a while now. Other than, how has it been?

-Best air con they I have ever had.
-Best sound insulation thet I have ever had and this is without acoustic glass.
-Quietest folding mirrors that I have ever had.
-Least wind noise that I have ever had.
-Best sound deadening thar I have ever had for music.
-Best hill hold that I have ever had.
-Retrofitted car play works flawlessly. Starts automatically. I don't need to unlock the phone or press any buttons.
-Reversing camera and guiding lines work OEM level thanks to the canbus sending steering angle to the infotainment. I did not expect this.
-No limp mode if car has an error.
-I average 42mpg on 1 hour drives. The 220 cdi outputs 400nm which is competative by today's standards.

It's said that you should never met your heroes. I am glad that I met the w211. It has surpassed my expectations and does many things better than many of the brand news cars that I have driven and owned over the past couple of years.

I am glad that I bought an avantgarde one. The lower ride height makes the car feel more agile and smaller than it is. Minimal body roll makes the car more easy going and less tiring to drive.

If anything goes wrong, there is a wealth of youtube videos and forum posts to help you. Furthermore aftermarket parts are plenty on eBay and aliexpress.

The W211 was peak E-Class. The the 00's was the peak automotive world in general.

I had 3 in our family

E240 the light smoke silver

Then E270 cdi we did 300 thousand km what a car

The best E320 CDI had so much torque

The ride was impeccable so relaxing I use to drive from limpopo to Durban 1000km and never felt tired driving these cars.

Saw this beautiful E320 or E350 today. One of the most elegant and timeless design for a sedan. It does not look 23 years old at all. The fact that they are still a relative common sight on the road is the testament to the high quality and engineering involved in creating the W211

Here is a photo of ours, 20 plus years and still going strong. We will keep the car for as long as we can. It is still the daily driver.

The modern cars cannot match the ride comfort offered by 16 inch wheels.

The 382hp V8 E550 was one of the best cars I've ever driven.

M
That 5.4ltr version produced effortless power, its performance was even quicker than the W210 E55, yet it was wrapped up in such an elegant and refined package.

My one friend in Saudi had a 2005 E350 and I was highly impressed with the smooth refined drive of his car, the V6 engine hardly would make any noise, it was so quiet. The ride comfort and the seats were very comfortable and the interior build quality was very solid.
