7 Series [Official] 2019 BMW 7 series LCI

The BMW 7 Series is a full-size luxury sedan manufactured and marketed by the German automaker BMW since 1977. It is the successor to the BMW E3 "New Six" sedan. The 7 Series is BMW's flagship car and is only available in a sedan bodystyle (including long wheelbase and limousine models). It traditionally introduces technologies and exterior design themes before other models in BMW's lineup.
A bit off-topic, but does anyone have any idea if the next 7 series will be like this?
Now that it is elucidated that the "9 series" will almost certainly not exist and that was decided by the 8 series, the general lines of the VFL were not used in the current 7, (only the excellent slightly transformed front), it will be that here we are seeing the profile and the back of the next 7?

Although now over 5 1/2 years old, the architecture and sculpturing under the windowsills remain absolutely stunning.

That looks too good so BMW will not be making something that comes close to it

Oh, the VFL, how you have teased me. I know I am repeating myself, but it's m favorite concept of the last 10 or so years..... forward-thinking design with brand-specific historical details that were not too out of reach in terms of production feasability.

Regarding whether we see something closer to the VFL as I am sure a newer design language will define what we should look forward in their 3-box vehicles. But I could be wrong and hope that I am.

I see concepts like the VFL as a statement of the design teams: "Look people, we are not that uncapable, we can design good looking and fascinating cars, but the bean counters want us to make these boring and uninspiring cars that you see coming out of the factories".

I believe we will see some refined cues from VFL. As the great majority of them have been reworked for the LCI of THE 7.
but also how the body surfaces broaden at the rear wheel arch is found on the G20 3. I believe we will get another luxury showcase that will lead to either the next 7 or an all new i7.

The similarities appear highly remote at best.

Alas, this is usually the dilemma when it comes to genuinely beautiful show cars in general. The aspects that are so compelling rarely find application on production models. In this particular case, it is the front-wing airbreather and mid-flank horizontal tendon that find a form of vaguely approximate replication-and little if anything more.

I’ve seen several 7er LCI by now and everytime I see one I can’t help thinking ‘this must be a joke’.
It depends on who laughs last

It is made to suit the taste of the Chinese, but it looks like it is not very well accepted there.

Is it not?
BMW continues to defend new styling direction
Product boss stands by “strong characters and bold design,” being "convinced" that it is the right move for the brand
BMW has received “very positive” feedback to its radical shift in styling for certain models including the X7, according to product boss Peter Henrich.

Take into account that the grill of the X7, was defenestrated and 100 times more criticized than that of the 7 series that was (minus a few), highly appreciated by all even by GCF members!
It is very easy to return to the same thing, this has already been discussed, if it is not sold it is because they do not like the LCI and if it is sold it is because it has discounts? please, then they should stop manufacturing them ...
There is no official info how the 7er is doing in China, but according to a member of GCF (I think it was @HUTSUTAo from HonkKong) they cut the discounts massively, which took away its price advantage leading to a sales drop.
I am not Chinese and I like the grill very much, Hong Kong is not China (it is China but it is clear that they are almost two different countries)

"Henrich told Autocar that he was “convinced” this bold styling direction under design boss Adrian van Hooydonk was the right way to go, and that customer data showed it was being well received.
“This is crucial for success,” said Henrich. “BMW customers are demanding"

In several reports AVH mentioned that they were pleasantly surprised by the sales behavior of 7 LCI.
The figures are everything and until October they are on the rise, (after the decline of the years prior to the LCI), so it is a success and we will see it posting the figures at the end of the year

That’s what more people say, I mean that the design of the LCI was given in to please Chinese-Asian taste. If indeed not very well accepted, mission not accomplished.
It’s such a pity, because the pre-LCI was a very elegant BMW with a selfconfident design. The LCI is incongruent, as if the face of the car was transplanted from another car to the 7er.
It makes me appreciate the original design more and more and though it was a bit boring to my eyes at the beginning, it will mature well in future if you ask me.

I hardly think BMW officials and marketing would publicly say, that current BMW-design could have some flaws.

Why they would say or accept something that is not?

Reportage Quote: "
When first shown the X7, people said: ‘How big is the kidney grille?’ But customers never reacted like that and the car is a great success. It’s sold out for a very long period and people love it."

Don't get me wrong. I like the LCI 7er much more than the boring pre LCI. I just wanted to stress on the paradox, that they made it to please the customers in China, but exactly there the car is not doing well. (The sales numbers of HonkKong are included in the Chinese sales for Daimler and VAG).

I understand, but I will wait for the final figures for the year to see how it went in China, because what I saw there in terms of sales (attached numbers), it seems that they remain stable, (2018-2019), which is exactly the point of the LCI, they will never reach the values of when it was new, but the idea is not to decay abruptly, ( pitifully is not monthly differentiated by model and country from China until well into next year).

With regard to Honk Kong, I was referring more than anything to the mentality and appreciation of something more thought for Mainland China, for its history it is basically almost another country, they have enough differences, at least for a few more decades
