X5 M / X6 M [Official] BMW X6 M Thread

The X5 M is the high-performance variant of the X5. In April 2009, the X6 M version was announced, with a 408 kW (547 hp) version of the BMW S63 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine. The BMW X5 M and X6 M are the first vehicles from BMW M GmbH to have xDrive all-wheel-drive system and automatic transmissions, and are also crossovers as opposed to passenger cars.
I don't think so, the LED mirror light ... maybe I am wrong.

Yeah, could be that too. A camera facing the pavement isn't that good of an idea anyways....

I want to read what Martinbo has to say about the power and torque diagram of the new M turbo V8!!!!!

Well that torque diagram isn't real life stats collected from dayno run or something, it is just restating the official figures in a graphical way.

Anyways it is impressive and thats about it. BUT i am afraid the next generation of this engine will have to stroke it to 4.8 like Porsche to compensate for the lag and make the idling torque a little bit higher.

im sorry but this is not a very nice looking vehicle. the front end is too unnecessarily fussy to try and make this great big truck look sporty and aggressive. It sorta reminds me of a OTT aftermarket bodykit.

OK, I've held my tongue for 24 hours or so to soak this up... although I love this new engine and the performance figures are very impressive for such heavy beasts, I can't help feel a little pissed about the direction M has taken.

In the end I don't mind so much seeing these M versions but NOT at the expense of not having Z4M and a true 1er M versions.

So in the end, I'm not very impressed.

I would have much rather seen the Z4M as well, rather than these two:t-banghea

I still can't get over how BMW have actually canceled the Z4M and the Z4 coupe!!!

What on EARTH are you talking about? The Z4 M and the Z4 Coupe have not been cancelled!

The Z4 M is doubtful to be seen in the convertible version because the S65 V8 engine doesn't fit, but it may well be seen in an upcoming Z4 M Coupe to be launched around 2012.

The Z4 Coupe has not been cancelled! :eusa_doh:

There will be no individually designed Z4 coupe (as it was case Z3 & MkI Z4 case).

Perhaps a Z4 with fixed roof - but with exactly the same shape as the roadster. Probably as "tii" version.

M version ... E89 was not made with new M 6-cylinder twin-turbo in mind. Therefore it's not sure the engine would fit in Z4 engine bay at all. Especially if being made in V6 form. The engine is made for M3 ... If it will fit in Z4 as well - then perhaps Z4 will be offered. Otherwise not. If - then with the Z4 facelift - as it was the case with E85.

But I was told BMW would rather go with "tii" variant. Performance Pack + Power Boost for N54 engine.

German market base prices:

X6 M (555HP): €108.500

X5 M (555HP): €105.900
Porsche Cayenne Turbo S (550HP): €133.970
Audi Q7 V12 TDI (500HP): €130.600
Mercedes-Benz ML 63 AMG (510HP): €104.480

BMW have been testing fixed top versions of the Z4 but it is not a unique design as the classic Z4 Coupe. If photographers got up and close to these car they will see the tubes of insulation stuck on the roof joints and the rear deck that disguise the fixed roof from the cabrio , evident in some hardtops that are still seen with some elements of disguise.

To offset the position of an Z4 M. BMW will offer a package under it's "Performance" banner. The big question I have seen on many forum today is what bids for the X1 and X3 ?
Right now it is impossible to discuss or see I expect after a years sales after market introduction would give us the answer , now it is far too early to comprehend.

Surely the M engine in consideration is the S65 V8 from the E92 M3? Putting in the next generation M3 engine in whatever form that comes in, is jumping way ahead?

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
