F-Type [Renders] 2020 Jaguar F-Type

The Jaguar F-Type (X152) is a series of two-door, two-seater sports cars manufactured by British car manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover under their Jaguar Cars marque from 2013 to 2024. The car's JLR D6a platform is based on a shortened version of the XK's platform. It is the so-called "spiritual successor" to the E-Type.

This is all fine and good (I like the F-Type)...but...Where is the new electric XJ successor ?? We've seen nothing more than an official teaser of the taillamps and several independant renderings. Not a single mule or production-bodied, swirly-foil veiled prototype spotted as of yet.

I don't recall seeing any test mules of the I-Pace until after the concept was unveiled, so I think the question is when JLR will launch the "concept" electric XJ.

I'm not sure whether this spyshot was taken following the concepts' presentation.:

It looks smaller than the current XJ almost like a size smaller. Not so sleek and quite a high curvy belt line.

That is, I believe, an i-Pace mule.

Rumors indicate that the new XJ will be a 5m+ car that is relatively low-slung (approx. 1440mm or less in height) as well as well over 1900mm in width. It is rumoured to be a liftback rather than a classic 3-Box sedan-although the official teaser does not necessarily indicate that.:

Is it just me or does anyone else think the pre-face-lifted model looks far more sportier and individual?
It's like they have followed Land Rover and made a uniform face and applied it to every model.
Your pinnacle sports car should not look like your entry Sedan.

If Audi logo was there instead of Jaguar's you could easaly confuse someone it's a R8 :D

Certainly rather "Audiesque". Yet nevertheless attractive IMHO.

I'd like to see something similar applied to the upcoming XJ successor. The low, lean and menacing snout would evoke a clear association with the original 1968 XJ6.

Last week at Continentals facility in Regensburg I’ve seen a heavily disguised prototype which looked a lot like it could be the next XJ. Had a British license plate too. It looked rather good but was parked between two other cars so I couldn’t see much and sadly I couldn’t take any pictures either.

Were you able to detect whether the car featured a more "conventional" cabin-back design (lange, tiefe Motorhaube, kurzer vorderer Überhang, Fahrgastraum eher nach hinten versetzt, niedrige Fahrzeughöhe...)? Also, were you able to tell whether it was a car as large as its' German competitiors ? And finally: more 4 door coupe than sedan ?

I could only see the front of the car. It looked wide and imposing, also the hood definitely seemed to be longer than the one of the EQS for example. Can’t say anything about the rear.

Having spotted the car at Continentals' facility in Regensburg indicates that JLR is tapping not only Continentals' "Hirnschmalz", but perhaps also that of BMW (a more recently announced JLR cooperation partner pertaining primarily to E-drivetrains).
