I like the exterior of the SL a lot more now, than when it debuted. It really has a bold presence.
Still, it seems to lack something over the sexier competition. There is nothing really dramatic about this design, which it should be, considering the price point. The interior is where it needs the biggest fix. if they plaster a dam tablet looking screen on the dash, I'll be pissed for sure.

What do you think of the new C Coupe and the C63 Coupe?

Well. This pretty much confirms not even an extensive FL can save this car.

Sadly we are going to wait another 5 years until a new, well designed SL comes to the market.

Although not exactly the prettiest SL, in this video posted above it looks good on the road. The front lights and grill will hopefully make a huge improvement to the front but the back is the weak design aspect of this car that we will have to wait for the next gen model before we will see a huge change.

I think that the problem was the disjointed front end design that will be fixed with the facelift and it was usually the front that was disliked in the comments. The back design was never a problem considering it has to accommodate a folding roof. The interior design is another weak point of this car. The facelift should make the car contemporary for the next few year exterior wise at least. When the wrapper will be off, I am hoping it wont disappoint.

MB Passion writes the updated SL roadster (R231) may premiere in LA, and become available to order in mid December, along with the SLC (R172) and S-Class Cabriolet (A217).

I just realised this car also has ABC suspension, I wonder if they'll upgrade it to MBC in the facelift ?

It's just an added camera isn't it ?
I am so impressed with ABC, my C215 that is 10 years old handles beautifully in large curves.

Yes, agreed. Most of the spy shots show the stereo camera now.

That would be great news, though the stereo camera might just be used for the Traffic follow assistant/steering assistant ? it would be a waste to add it though without the added option of MBC.

I love the inverted grille. I think this could be a stellar addition to the MB line up. I am thinking in the next CLS for example...

Yes, and another reason for the stereo camera might be the new LED headlamps expected for the updated SL roadster (R231), the SLC (R172) as well as the GLS (X166). MB Passion just posted a video explaining the new lights. [In German, with Daimler exterior developer Gunter Fischer, where he points out among other stuff the stereo camera working with the new adaptive multibeam LED headlights.]
