M6 [Spyshots] BMW M6 F12/F13 (Spy pics, Info & Impressions)

The BMW M6 is a high-performance version of the 6 Series marketed under the BMW M sub-brand from 1983 to 2019 (with a hiatus from 1990 to 2004). Introduced in the coupe body style, the M6 was also built in convertible and fastback sedan ('Gran Coupe') body styles for later generations. An M6 model was built for each of the first three generations of the 6 Series. Production of the M6 ended in 2019 and it was replaced by the BMW M8 (F91/F92/F93) in 2019. Official website: BMW M
Maybe it's the angle the photo was taken, but for a sports coupe, and a high performance one at that, there seems to be quite the ground clearance and space between the tire and wheelwell.

Is that silver one a real picture of the M6? Am I blind or did they forget the M treatment on the exterior?

I never understood why companies choose to make Blue look like purple. If I wanted purple, I'd order PURPLE. GIVE ME BLUE DARN IT! [/Rant]

I honestly hope the M6 has huge air intakes like the X5/X6 M cars. Looking at those huge air intakes when the car is coming down the road just makes your eyes lock onto the car and your head starts turning as the car passes by. I like the current X5 design which is why I hope they don't stray too far from it. I also can't believe it's only been 3 years the X6 has been out. When will that hideous thing get an overhaul? Maybe the LCI will change my mind.

Just before Christmas there was that photo of the Le Mans Blue M6 cabrio at a New Jersey port. It looked production ready and was without any disguise. Maybe that was on it's way to Detroit but to be shown "behind the scenes" to the BMW USA executives and not meant for public display this time?

BMW only wanted the spotlight on the F30 in Detroit which only concentrated on the US models available in the US Market - 328i , 335i and Active Hybrid 3.
The decision was made to introduce the M6 Cabrio in Geneva instead as the M5 is relatively new to the US and did not want the spotlight on the M6 and its differences when the M5 is just having its US introduction and not on sale until a few months.

The first of the Geneva launches have commenced with the BMW 6er Gran Coupe and will begin from the 19th of January with the BMW X6 LCi right up to the eve of the Geneva show with a studie of a Performance 3er sedan. In Late Spring we will see the BMW 3er Touring and the BMW 7er LCi. @ Beijing in Late April we will see the introduction of the M6 Coupe and two concepts - one which I can tell you is a China market 3er Li with electric drivetrain. The other is termed as an emotional concept showcasing latest design and technology aspects.

Yep :)

Do you guys remember when it was still special when BMW came with a concept car?
The last five years or so, I think we've had as many concept cars from BMW as we had in the 20 years before that...

CS, ED, M1 Hommage, that car in SKY's avatar, Gina, etc. etc.

We already had BMW M1 Hommage, BMW 328 Hommage, BMW CS and BMW Z. I don't think it will be a BMW 507 Hommage, because it is not what is to come in near future. The next is the 2 Series with 1 Series Coupé soon ending its lifecycle, so I would think about a possible BMW 2002 Hommage.

so I would think about a possible BMW 2002 Hommage.

And you could be possibly right. Speaking of which. Have you seen the Chevrolet Concept that mimics the 1er Coupe? I am not in Detroit ( I hope that Honda bring the NSX to Geneva) but a colleague sent me lots of pictures of it - 130R I think it is called?

Anyway the BMW 2er Twins prototypes in camouflage are ready to begin public testing... Proportions are the same although the Coupe gets a more sloping profile and the Cabrio remains a soft-top - Keep a look out.

Yes, the Chevrolet has the very same lines as the 1 Series E82, except for RWD proportions. Glad the 2 Series F22 is prepearing, I wish it will look different (better) compared to the 1 Series F21.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
